    Xerox Versalink B400/405 Toner

By Mike Josiah and the Technical Staff at Uninet

The Xerox Versalink B400/405 is based on a 47ppm 1200 x 1200 DPI monochrome engine. The toner cartridge is a long round tube type cartridge that houses the toner and reset chip. The printer is rated for up to 150,000 pages/month and comes with a STD 2GB memory.

This cartridge is another in the “Easy to Do” series where the profit is high and the time to remanufacture is minimal.

There are three different yield cartridges available for this series.

The part numbers and list pricing for these toners are as follows:

    STD Yield 106R03580 5,900 pages $169.99*
    High Yield 106R03582 13,900 pages $283.99*
    Extra High Yield 106R03584 26,400 pages $379.99*

There is also a drum cartridge used in this engine which will be covered at a later date

    Drum Cartridge 101R00554 65,000 pages $87.99*

    * Pricing as of September 1st 2019

Current machines released so far are:

    Required Tools

    Toner approved vacuum.

    Small jewelers type common screwdriver

    Required Supplies

Toner for use in the Xerox Versalink B400/405 toner cartridge: Choose the correct gram weight for your cartridge

Replacement reset chip: Choose correct yield
NOTE: There is a large end cap on the left (NON Gear side) of the cartridge, but the plastic is so rigid and tabs so tight it’s very difficult to remove. I highly recommend using the toner port instead. See Figure 1

    Figure 1
    Figure 1

    1) Vacuum the exterior of the cartridge

    2) Remove the Toner Port cover by pressing in on the small tab and sliding the cover open. Remove the cover. See Figures 2 & 3

    Figure 3

    3) Dump the remaining toner.

    4) Vacuum/blow out the cartridge until clean. Use only low pressure air! (High pressure air can cause leaks in the seals).

    5) Fill the cartridge through the toner port with the appropriate amount of toner for use in the Xerox Versalink B400/405. Make sure you’re using the correct amount of toner to match your replacement chip. See Figure 4

    Figure 4
    Figure 4

    6) Replace the toner port cover and slide to close. See Figure 5

    Figure 5
    Figure 5

    7) Replace the chip by releasing the two tabs on the chip holder, slide the holder over to remove. Remove the old chip by pressing in on the two tabs and replace with a new one. Make sure the new chip aligns with the end supports. Slide the chip and holder back into place. See Figures 6, 7, 8 & 9

    8) Wipe the cartridge down to remove any remaining toner dust. Check for leaks on the toner port. If there are, the slide cover probably isn’t fully locked

That’s it! You’re done! Simple, fast and profitable!https://static.ombe.com/slir/w125/forums/200/rickpics/Uninet_Imaging_Logo.jpeg
