  • Remanufacturing the Ricoh MP C406, MP C 5502 and Toshiba e-Studio 2040C Toner Cartridges

    These three different engines are the latest in our “Easy to do” series. Toner cartridges that are very simple to remanufacture, do not need to be tested and have a high profit potential.

    Ricoh MP C406

    The Ricoh MP C406 is based on a 42ppm 1200DPI color engine. The toner cartridge is a Tube type cartridge that houses the toner and reset chip.

    Required Tools

    Toner approved vacuum.

    Small jewelers type common screwdriver

    Flat head screwdriver

    Required Supplies

    Toner for use in the MP C406 toner cartridge: Choose the correct color for your cartridge

    Replacement reset chip Choose correct color

    1) Vacuum the exterior of the cartridge

    2) Pry off the end cap with a flat head screwdriver. The end cap also serves as a seal for the toner hopper so be careful when removing it. Its best to hold the cartridge with the end cap up when prying it off so any remaining toner doesn’t leak out. See Figure 1

    3) Dump the remaining toner.

    4) Carefully vacuum/blow the cartridge clean. Also clean the inside of the end cap

    5) Fill the cartridge with the appropriate color toner for use in the Ricoh MP C406. See Figure 2

    6) Snap the end cap back in place and check for leaks. See Figure 3

    7) Wipe the cartridge down to remove any remaining toner dust.

    8) Slice off the three plastic rivets on the chip cover. See Figure 4

    9) Remove the chip holder. See Figure 5

    10) Install a new chip and replace the cover. See Figure 6

    11) Place three small dabs of black silicon or hot glue to hold the chip cover in place. See Figure 7

    The Ricoh MP C5502 is based on a 55ppm (Based on model) 1200DPI color engine. The toner cartridge is a tube type cartridge that houses the toner and reset chip.

    The Toshiba E-Studio 2040C is based on a 20-30ppm (Based on model) 2400 x 600DPI color engine. The toner cartridge is a rectangular box type cartridge that houses the toner and reset chip.

    22) Vacuum the exterior of the cartridge

    26) Slide a new seal into the hopper port cover. See Figure 17
